Sorry I didn't get back on here and post pics yesterday. I went through and disconnected all connections and fuse block to clean thoroughly and applied dielectric grease like SgtHaas suggested. Thank you. By 2000 yesterday I was able to get the truck cranked and everything is working finally...
The service light switch is in the "ON" position. When I was in a volunteer fire department, we had a M1008 and had to safety wire the switch because some people were moving the switch.
I have not found any bad grounds or fusible links, visually and metered checked. I reconnected batteries and still can not get even the headlights to come on or make the horn work. Not even brake lights will come on. All fuses are good in fuse block. The only thing I can get to work are the...
I got the new batteries load tested today, both were good. I will next start inspecting all grounds to make they are good. Then I will inspect and test the fusible links. I will give another update when I get these items checked. Thanks again for the help.
I haven't been on here in awhile. I searched the forums to see if I could find anything similar. I am having a problem with my m1009. I had to replace the batteries due to bad swelling on both. I put the new batteries in and went to crank truck. I took voltage readings, front 12.74 back...
I am getting ready to take my M1009 to the shop to have gears changed. Looking to go to 3.42 gears with a different locker in the rear. Not sure what locker to get. I will be using truck on road mostly with light off road use. Anyone have any suggestions on what locker would be good and...
I have noticed a grinding and growling noise coming through the transmission when I let off the gas pedal when slowing down. If I apply brake and give a little throttle, the noise will go away. I just replaced my starter and checked the bolts on the TC and all looked fine. Checked the fluid...
Has anyone heard of the "Big-Sert" thread inserts? I am thinking about ordering a kit to use for starter bolts. Both bolts have broken, the outer one I was able to get heli coil to work, inner bolt have not had any luck with heli coil and now i can't get heli coil to work. I have run out of...
Ok. I checked the air filter housing and one of the top bolts was loose, so I tightened it. Checked the belts, battery supports and power steering fluid. Found out the power steering pump is out of fluid. Would the pump being out of fluid make that much noise? I also checked the starter...
I have checked the engine compartment and transmission, but don't see any obvious signs of anything wrong. I checked the fluid levels in the front/rear differentials and they are full.
I was driving my M1009 home from work yesterday, and I started noticing a loud roaring noise whenever I would let off the gas pedal and start braking. When I would give it gas, the noise would go away. It progressively got worse the closer I got home. The roaring noise is only there when I...
I finally got a chance to work on getting starter bolt out. I used a center punch so I could keep the drill bit from jumping, when I moved the punch out of the way I noticed that the broken piece had moved further in the hole. I attempted to use the drill, but as I started to put force on the...
Thanks for the replies. It does have the support bracket in the front. I did purchase the starter bolts from the dealer, bought four of them to have extras if this happens again. I plan on tackling this again when ever the rain lets up enough where I can get out there and work on it. I don't...
I was having problems with starting my m1009, got underneath to check starter and noticed a bolt laying on the ground. Looked at starter and noticed the inside bolt was broken. I took the starter off and then noticed that the bolt hole had a helicoil already installed and that the bolt broke...
I am getting ready to order my window crank for rear window. I was on a camping trip when my window crank broke. I could still roll up and down, but going is getting worse. Now that I have replace the window track for rear window I can't get the window to go all the way up because the crank...
Well, I got the shocks changed. It only took 3 hours. I used the PB blaster and hit with hammer, but no luck. I used a heat gun for shrink tubes and heated the bolts for about 10 minutes each and was able to break them loose without a breaker bar. I am glad I got them changed, the old shocks...
