I respectfully wrote to the representives in WI, even though I was from CT. I think that everyone needs to advocate for our hobby, no matter what state you live in. glad to hear that reason has prevailed

my m817 is registered in CT as historic. they dont care about the weight. the reg has the weights removed from it. I have seen other CT historic truck registrations and they also have the weight boxes blank. dont make it more complicated than it needs to be. keep asking question and you...
thanks for the explanation. I did look through the manual, but must have missed it. my 817 has a about 2 1/2 inches of play and it would be nice to tighten it up a little
can you tell me exactly what section in 34-2 you found that info. i went through it again tonight and cannot find...
although not GA, I did ask my state's DMV about using my m817 for a test and they also said no. As others have said, rent a truck that meets all the modern requirements. that is what I am going to do. best wishes

thanks all
my dump has the pto. it seems that not only do you need that. but you have to also add the extra linkage to control the pto when you are winching. thanks for the photos.

I am looking to add a winch to my m817. can anyone point me in the right direction to look at a diagram on how they are set up? I looked over the TMs and cant seem to find a diagram. Does it use the same pto at the dump or is there a seperate one? anyone have a set up for sale ?
thanks

I have a 404 and 406 along with a 817.. if you have never driven a 404 you are in for a treat. they are just really fun to drive and really quite unstopable. love the 817, but nothing compares to a unimog. best wishes

that is not true in CT. there is a Q1 form called "reassignement of title" and it is used all the time, and not just by dealers, but by anyone. I used it for my m817 without any problem. I fretted about this because of many of the posts like some here. in the end they turned out to be...
