Thanks PB and all your crew for your involvment every year ( Those at the Gathering and back home ), These trucks are a huge deal and it gets harder each year to move them around, the trucks have been the main draw for every Gathering and I've been to every one of em---The girls again did a...
Sorry to hear of your brothers passing, Rich Shepler was on Canned Heat but I'm not sure just when, I'll see what I can find out, lets see if I can post a picture here--------
Ok--I'll stand down---didn't mean to upset anyone I was just saying what I knew of the truck--shoulda kept my opinion to myself, after all the opinions about that malibu deuce I figured I was safe with an opinion---with this truck I only spoke of what it was, never suggested what you should do...
Well---your right about only one REAL one around, so being its not a replica it must be something else and for me the tribute thing is a personal choice, the 523rd had deuces for gun trucks but it was early, before the yellow nose, and a mortar tube on a gun truck in a trans unit? that woulda...
Another wannabe that couldn't fly----and now as with another truck some may think its real, there goes history and its gonna get worse, I have some photos of it as a wannabe but it wasn't even a good one-----Sorry
All holes are 1 inch from top or sides of armor to center of hole----5/8s inch holes----long side--or--up and down the holes run center to center from the 1 inch corner 11" and 13"---23" and 25"---35" and 37" and 47"---then across the top and bottom they run starting with the 1 inch corner next...
The Mags were in a bandolier hung somewhere or layed on the seat, I can't really remember how many mags it held maybe 5 or 6, the door armor was a sheet dropped down in the door after the window was removed, and the no smoking on the dash may have been a unit thing or even driver applied, I...
That right hand seat must be a boring place---I can't find any photos of it---here's a couple of photos that show the M-16 hanging there but no passengers side or seat, I'm thinking those 4th Div. boys probably had it different in there then we did, first off when they went out with thier...
4th Div huh?----We moved them around during the Cambodia Incusion ( ????? ) here's one of their deuces, Sad story, Plei Djereng, we seen this going by, there were still tons of people around---this photo is when we got back around----link---- helicopter crash Great unit---good choice
If this is a cargo truck all I can say is that I never seen a cargo with anything cept the proper seats, drivers couldn't get away with too much other then maybe a name on the door armor, you might swap out the shifter knob every day (even having the same truck assigned to you things that came...
M-79, ammo, any kind of side arms that was around, any kind of rifle besides the personal weapon of the period your displaying, there was probably a 60 laying around to use as a ditch gun if need be, some gun trucks even had LAWs, we generally had anything we wanted we could get our hands on.
Well---I agree thats probably the way it went but in talking with Killblane he said there wasn't an explanation of just what your photo was of, no gun ports and there is a different set of holes in one sheet, and no hole for the mirrior, this is your photo isn't it?---can I ask where ya got...
