Thanks for that pdf link. These don't seem so extreme to *me*, so are interesting:
Severe Environmental Factors
• Frequent operation in dirty air
• Frequent operation at an altitude which is above 1525 m (5000 ft)
• Frequent operation in ambient temperatures which are above 32° C (90° F)

Hi,
I just saw a 3116 data plate on a M1088 that said "MAX ALT 1500M / 4922FT".
Does anyone have any insight into this? How serious is this restriction?
Thanks,
Greg
A couple of dumb questions...
My M1010 has fuel dripping apparently from the fuel tank drain tube. I relieved the pressure in the tank (removed the gas cap) and the drip stopped.
1 - With the pressure removed can I take the drain tube cap off and expect no more than a tube's worth of fuel...
My wait light doesn't come on during afters. You should be able to hear the relay switching and see the VM drop when they occur, though.
The wait light seems to have only a slight relationship with the actual GP cycle...
Re: RE: Re: smoke from gp resistor
The one (new) plug was internally shorted. Replacing it did the trick.
The new plug / burning crud idea seems reasonable, but in this case I think there was a bit more smoke than I'd expect from that. :( Not enough to evacuate the neighborhood, but a...
Re: RE: Re: smoke from gp resistor
The plugs did cycle normally once I replaced that shorted plug. Is there anything I can do to check the resistor, or should I just expect it to fail soon?
Hi,
I searched a bit, but couldn't find anything on this...
I decided this evening to finally check and change the glow plugs in my 1010. I had some cold weather starting problems this past winter that I never really resolved, so I've had the plugs in had for a while. I got the wellman ones...
What I think I heard:
The 1010 has the TH400 + np208.
The burb has the 700r4 + mp208.
The burb AT+tcase assy should drop in where my AT+tcase was.
I need to address TV cable issues.
I -may- need to mod d-shaft due to wheelbase difference.
I -should- inspect t-case internals.
I -should- ensure...
I have an m1010 with 4.10 gears in the rear and am still not too happy with the revs at highway speeds (I got it that way, so I don't know how the 4.56 gears are...). Also, I'm not too pleased with the hill climbing ability of this beast.
I've come across a possible donor vehicle for both a...
Hi,
I've recently acquired an m1010 and thought I'd tackle the inop box heater first...
I've discovered that the fuel pump on the left fender that feeds the box heater (and the arctic heater if installed) makes some rather nasty clunky noises when powered. As I received it, the cutoff switch...
RE: CUCV Import
A variation on that theme: I was wondering what prevents a hypothetical CDN owner from taking a holiday in the US and simply forgetting to take his vehicle back with him? That's a serious question. Is there some check to ensure that visitors return with their vehicles? I've...
Re: RE: Re: RE: CUCV Import
It's owned by a civilian, so I assume it's titled that way. It is registered and insured and driven regularly.
Stupid question: In your scenario, who issues the temp. tags?

Re: RE: CUCV Import
Um... What -does- it have? :) I'm not sure I'm ready for a build-up of that magnitude. Yet. I'd love to see the pics, though.
I've inquired with a broker and he was pretty firm about it not being possible to import. I think that finding a broker with MV experience...
Hi all,
I was wondering it anyone had any tips on trying to get a Candian CUCV imported into the US from Canada. I need to get the letter that states to what level the vehicle complied with the then current FMVSS. I tried gmcanada, but they suggested contacting the Canadian military. Is that...
