According to the diagram, it’s a direct connection between the switch and valve. I did test for power on that wire and got nothing. I plan to work on it more this weekend. I bought both valves in case I need them.
I have to shut it down by stalling it. The manual shutdown cable is disconnected and the manual valve doesn’t have a lever on it any more. It’s missing and it has JB weld sealing it up. The electric one is still there and hooked up but it doesn’t do anything.
Next thing on my to do list. My electric and manual fuel valves don’t work. The manual one is obvious why it doesn’t work. The electric one is a little different. I’m assuming I’m suppose to get 24 Volts to it when I turn the switch to run to open it to allow fuel to get to the injection pump...
My only reason for the concern about the mileage was it was disappearing way faster than it should have been, according to what others were saying. You have to have some idea how far you can go on the amount of fuel you have available and things weren’t adding up. It would be just plain stupid...
Got the fuel issue straightened out today. Now I’m drawing from and returning to the left tank. Took it for about a 15 mile drive and the fuel level only dropped less than an inch. Major improvement.
Ok. Just did a test run with GPS. Speedometer is pretty accurate up until 35. Then it gets off quite a bit. 40 is more like 48. So it could be going faster than I think. Was starting to rain so I couldn’t do a longer run.
As for the fuel issue, I think I’ve figured out what is going on. Seems...
I’ll have to double check that. First time I drove it when it was in low range the speedo showed about 35mph and I think my sister, who was following me, said we were going about 35. So I think it’s been recalibrated. I’ll double check this evening.
Something just doesn’t seem right about this Cummins. I know it’s not going to get ggreat mileage but this one seems overly excessive. This weekend I was transferring fuel from the right tank to the left tank, since the previous owner disconnected the right tank when he replaced fuel lines. I...
Update….finally got some tires on the front so I can move this thing. I played around with the hi-lo range lever and noticed the shaft on the transfer case was not going all the way in with the lever pulled all the way up. It still showed about 3/4” of shiny on the shaft. So I knocked the pin...
