5 Ton Alternator pulley shaft sheared.

It appears that I already had separate belts for the alternator and water pump. The other belts are all intact and running just fine. There were just two small belts from the main pulley to the alternator pulley. Did the army change from a serpentine belt in one of the mid life upgrades?

5 Ton Alternator pulley shaft sheared.

Well, that's a good question. I did have the engine block temperature warning, but the temp gauges were all in the normal range. Hmmm, now you have me wondering if the water pump was not spinning. Time to go check the water pump too. I have not driven it much other than a few laps in the...

    Here is the alternator.

5 Ton Alternator pulley shaft sheared.

I noticed that my voltage levels kept getting lower so I decided to test the alternator. No voltage coming off the alternator BECAUSE, the alternator was not connected to the belts. The pulley shaft was shared off at the pulley with the pulley and belts lying in the engine compartment below...

Hello from Nacogdoches TX - new owner of an M925A1 5 ton

Wow, Class B license, that's good to know. Thanks for pointing out the CDL restrictions. Bummer about the not being able to use this truck for the air brake test too. Will I need to get an Airbrake endorsement with a Class B license?

Hello from Nacogdoches TX - new owner of an M925A1 5 ton

Thanks for the info. I am waiting on the title. I paid for registration when I bought it on Gov Planet. I read that these are exempt from CDL requirements if registered as a farm vehicle. I think I will get the CDL though and register it as an FMV and I am thinking of painting my old TX Army...

Hello from Nacogdoches TX - new owner of an M925A1 5 ton

Sorry, I posted these in the wrong thread. This is where the photos of my M925A1 belong. There were taken as it was being unnloaded, then when I parked it next to my tractor.

M925A1 FailSafe Warning Buzzer when engine temp goes over 160 degrees

Hulk, you nailed it. I measured the resistance from the engine temp sensor to ground and watched it rise as the engine warmed up, then at about 130 degrees indicated on the coolant sensor, the resistance went infinite! So where can I buy the engine temp sensor? Can I go to a local diesel...

M925A1 FailSafe Warning Buzzer when engine temp goes over 160 degrees

Well, after resplicing and soldering, it actually got worse ( now I get the buzzer at 140 degrees ), the oxidation is pretty far up the wire. I think I need to replace the whole wire. Does anyone know a good source for the sensor plugs ( connectors ) I think I need to replace the wire lead for...

M925A1 FailSafe Warning Buzzer when engine temp goes over 160 degrees

    Hi Hulk, The FailSafe is: Cutler-Hammer Model SX7EA1 NO. 19207-11669142 MFD 8721 ( I assume it is 1987 )http://www.steelsoldiers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=572658&stc=1&d=1438041165

M925A1 FailSafe Warning Buzzer when engine temp goes over 160 degrees

I found the engine temperature sensor. I also noticed that the sensor wire has a new connector spliced onto it and taped with electrical tape. It looked suspicious, so I peeled back the tape and noticed some oxidation on the wires. now that could increase the resistance and cause the FWCM to...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

What color are you going to paint it? Are you going to keep Desert Tan or back to woodland camo?

M925A1 FailSafe Warning Buzzer when engine temp goes over 160 degrees

The only engine temp sending unit I found was the coolant temp, and unplugging it had no effect other than the temp gauge quit working. I will verify the engine temp with the IR thermometer when it arrives on Tuesday.

M925A1 FailSafe Warning Buzzer when engine temp goes over 160 degrees

Suprman, I have 110psi on primary and secondary. I tested the air sensors and they are both in spec. There was an engine temp light, but it has been painted over, so I removed the lens to see if the bulb was illuminated, but it was not. That lamp is probably no longer used, which I assume is...

M925A1 FailSafe Warning Buzzer when engine temp goes over 160 degrees

I bought an M925A1 a few weeks ago through gov planet. The failsafe warning buzzer goes of when the engine temp goes over 160 degrees. scanning the manuals, the warning buzzer seems to only be mentioned for issues relating to the air system, but I did see a mention that FailSafe is for ALL...
