I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has ever had their steering wheel start falling apart. I'm guessing the LA heat has made the outer covering brittle and now pieces of it are falling off. Has anyone done a repair to their steering wheel as opposed to paying $150+ for a new one? I'm sure...
I live where all the flooding is going on. Now that I know my family is secure I'm ready to get out and do what I can. I've read the procedure for getting a 5 ton ready for high water but it's been a while. Could those with knowledge please give me the quick breakdown on what I need to do?
Thanks!
Recently I tried to start up my M931 to let her run a little bit as it had been a while since I last started her up. When I tried to start the engine I noticed a little smoke coming from around the dash... then it started getting worse. I grabbed the extinguisher out of my other truck and...
Thanks for all your help. I really do appreciate it.
One last question (maybe): Is there a good place to buy the lines already made or do you have them made locally?
I haven't had a chance to mess with this 931 for a while but I'm going to give it another shot. Here's the problem I'm having:
When I first start it up everything is fine. If I leave it in neutral the RPM stay steady. Now if I put her in gear at all and then drop it back into neutral the RPM...
I meant the actual shutoff arm. I know about the solenoid, but when the solenoid retracts the shutoff arm moves back to allow the engine to run.
I found the answer. It's a spring that's internal to the engine. Found this in a Cummins parts diagram:
I've been having some issues with starting my 5 ton lately. I'll try to explain as best I can.
- If the truck has been sitting for a while (several hours or more) it will start right up.
- If I shut her down and try to restart anytime within the next few hours it takes several attempts before...
Tomorrow is the big day! It looks like we should have some great weather and cool temps.
It's not too late to join us. If anyone decides last minute that they want to join in, just give me a call and let me know you're on the way. As long as you get there before 10-11am I can get you in the...

In the last post CARNAC says he's closing the thread due to computer issues so I doubt you'll get any info now. Hopefully he'll be back up and running again at some point because I'm trying to figure out...
Sounds good man! I'm glad you posted in here b/c I just remembered I need to load up that GPS bracket for you. I took some pictures of how it was mounted also.
Oh, and we made a set of steps to get the older guys up in the back of the trucks.
Only 1 week to go.
The event will take place at Walker High School in Walker, LA. The ceremony will begin at 1000 in the gym. There will be food served and the parade will roll at 1300.
It looks like we will have the veteran's homes from Reserve and Jackson coming in again this year (there...
The local Home Depot did a salute to veteran's this weekend. I cleaned up the 5 ton and brought her out for my veteran's association.
That's me in the brown jacket and that older gentleman I'm talking to is one of our WWII vets. He was in the Navy and saw action in the Philippines.
Oh... I...
