I am trying to learn about these trucks and all the quirks. This is a super dumb question, how can you drive the truck with the alternator disconnected. Won't the low batteries completely die? Can you give me more details?
I have been using the Google search...I am finding things and creating a condensed listing of pertinent information and I am learning a great deal. As a new new members and sometimes "we don't know what we don't know" so we can't know what to ask to get the answers.
Well, I will certainly be happy to condense any link to a single post anyone sends me and will categorize it as needed.
Start sending and I will start searching too.
Here are some example that although they are website, can be made into a thread easily the last one will demo the thread style

this last one combines many links...
this is good info. are our government paid employees that work on these trucks that uncaring or is it a middle man that is cleaning it up enough to make it passable? I do and will always inspect the truck before I bid, and I guess instead of just starting it up with some topical inspection...
would like to learn more about 5 ton trucks and wanted to reach out to someone who can point me to some resources about buying, repairing, reconditioning and generally add me to their email group broadcasts so I can get more involved.
Is there a way to make this a sticky and we all build on this post with details based on our experiences? That way this becomes more of a checklist/resource list for users?
Example would be:
1) Engine type xxxx
a) the occurs often
b) test this.....
2) Engine non turbo type xxx...
