M35A2 to M35A3 Fuel Tank Conversion

I am looking at the option of changing out my leaky steel fuel tank in my bobbed M35A2 for the aluminum A3 fuel tank, but the only ones I can find are NOS, and stripped. Does anyone know what other "A3" parts I'd need to swap over to make the A3 tank work on my Deuce? Looks like the fuel...

    M35A3 Tires with Tubes

That's part of the problem. The shop closed down and the A3 owner doesn't know. So without breaking down the wheels, there's no way to tell. That's why I'm trying to find out if anyone else has done this, and if there are any problems with doing so. One of the problems I find with sourcing the...

    M35A3 Tires with Tubes

The purpose is just to avoid buying more "old" M35A3 wheels and wanting to keep air in the tires so I can drive. They are going on an A2 so there isn't going to be a CTIS system to work with. I saw a local guy's A3 with tubed 14.5-20 tires and the tube's valve stem comes out of the original...

    M35A3 Tires with Tubes

Has anyone put tubes in their M35A3 wheels with 14.5-20 tires? I'm trying to salvage my "rusty" M35A3 wheels that look too rusty for the o-rings to seal.

    D-Max turbo on a multi-fuel?

I think turbochargers need to be matched to the application, at least as far as the parameters of displacment, RPM (for total mass flow rate) and boost pressure. Given that the M35 engine is about 50% larger in displacement than the Duramax, I doubt that any substantial performance benefit is...

    Off-road or folding mirrors

I posted a wanted ad. I also found the actual mirrors (approx 7x10 rectangular) on flea-bay. I can make the straight pieces to attach to the door hinges and make a spring loaded attachment to the front. But what I would have a hard time making are the two short curved tubes that connect the...

    Off-road or folding mirrors

The modification to the old single-arm style seems the easiest to fabricate. Any idea where I could find a pair of the old single arm, or Vietnam era mirrors & brackets? I've also thought of just making up a pair of brackets from 3/16 x 1" flat stock. But before I start making things from...

    Off-road or folding mirrors

I'm completing my Bobber project and expect to be operating it in a wooded area periodically. I'd like to use some kind of rearview side mounted mirrors that are NOT the "West Coast" type mirrors. Those just stick out too far and will get bent in the woods. Is there any source for a smaller...

    Door Hinge pins

There's not enough steel on the outside hinge barrels to allow for drilling to 7/16". Might be possible to drill 5/16" and use a "sleeved" 1/4" bolt. (If you can find some metal tubing to make that kind of a sleeve from.) Otherwise, it looks like to make "bolts" to hold mirrors, you can turn...

How to adjust door for M35A2

I kept the original hinges that were on the cabs and just changed the doors, and the original doors all fit just fine. All hinges were kept with each respective truck. Only the doors were swapped. One was just rustier than the other, which is why I wanted to change doors. I did a "swap" with...

How to adjust door for M35A2

Does anyone know how to adjust the door to fit the door opening of a Deuce? I installed a new door on the drivers side of my Deuce and the door needs to be closer to the front of the cab by at least 1/4 inch to close. I read through TM9-2320-361-24-2 and it provides no details on door...

WTK: Anyone doing "Bobbed Deuce" mods in Northern AL

I'm just checking to see if anyone performs this kind of work for pay (or barter) in Northern Alabama or South Central Tennessee. I have 3 deuces and I am planning to either trade two for the work or sell two and pay for the work. But I'd like to keep the project local. Anyone know of anyone...

    Fuel pump problem with A3

I am trying to "fix" an M35A3 for a friend and cannot get fuel to the fuel filter / water separator assembly. I can't even find the fuel pump. I can't find any other fuel filters. One line from the filter/water separator assembly goes to the injector pump and the other comes out of the back...

    M35A3 Fuel Filter

Does anyone know what the commercial replacment part number and brand filter will replace the original M35A3 fuel filter. This is the cannister that sits on the drivers side of the engine above the water separator. I can't find any vendors advertising A3 fuel filters for the CAT engine.

    Pre-Lube Options

I'm planning on installing a pre and post luber in an M35A2 turbo model. I have seen a variety of units for sale on the net and would like some feedback on which models are thought to work better than others. Anyone out there have any opinions on which ones might be better than others?
