I really think the motor that I’m replacing has all the parts I need aside from a good block, head and 1 piston. So I can use it as long as the core motor is stock bore. The guy has about 8 motors at that price, and I can hand pick which I want. As is I have $800 in the purchase of my generator...
I found some DN4M engines for sale, but they’re cores only that don’t rotate 360* and are assembled, how stupid would I be to buy one again without knowing the condition of the internals?
Unfortunately after looking at the gouges in the cylinder, I think the only hope of saving the block is going to be sleeve the cylinder. I’d say some of the gouges are like 50-70 thou deep :(
As expected, the wrist pin really did a number on the Cylinder, and surprisingly(maybe just to me) the head is ruined too. I don’t know if it’s worth punching the bores out and going larger, and tossing a new head on financially?? Anyone have a gently used head and a link to some pistons? I’m...
It wasn’t an auction unit but I bought it knowing it needed fixed in some sort. I’m just hoping the wrist pin didnt annihilate the cylinder but I’m not expecting much. Hope it just needs a piston tossed in, but this is wishful thinking while I sit here at work
Well I finally found some time to tear into this unit, and I found something pretty awful...
I need to pull the head and evaluate the cylinder, what are the chances it’s a paperweight?
Thanks guys! I need a little time to dig into it, but yes the machine is in pretty good shape. Had like 981 hours and was preserved in 06, as far as I know it may not have ran since
I paid the guy double the $400 he wanted, figure I saw a couple go for $3k on govplanet so I was at least ok on the deal. But locking it up is a little disheartening. I picked up a M116A3 trailer last year to put it on, had a bad axle spindle that I repaired and got back working it’s going on...
I think at this point the least invasive may be to pull the side cover, and look in there and see if I can hand rotate it.. the generator did come with the head gasket so no loss there to pulling it aside from the aggravation I suppose
It really felt like something was in between something. It was rotating fine then wham... hopefully I didn’t do something real bad, but you don’t know what you don’t know. I guess when I get some more time I’ll dive deeper. Thanks
Hello folks. I recently picked up a 803 from a guy, and at some point it bent a pushrod, and broke a rocker. Also came with a new injector(old injector missing) and a new head gasket. I buttoned up the valve train and pulled all injectors in case there was a hydro locking problem. I tossed some...
Alright fellas I just picked up 2 of these from rural king.
https://www.ruralking.com/rk-premium-efb-automoitive-battery-rk-efb51r
Wanted the cheaper $80 one but of course after checking stock online and verifying they had them, they didn’t in store so $50 extra each but they have a 4 year warranty!
Hello folks,
I recently picked up a partially disassembled MEP-803A for what I think was a good deal, anyway, I need to spin the motor over before putting injectors in, and it currently has no batteries. I know they came with red top optima batteries, and others are saying 34/78 group...
