What have you done to your JEEP today

Sounds like my interactions as well JEB. I've been in the classic car thing for longer than I can remember and in the few short years I've had my A1, I've had so many more interactions than all of my other rides combined. Wouldn't trade them for anything either. From talks with vets to letting...

    Ser# ?

I hate to be that guy lol. The variation change came in late '53. Hinged grille, support rods in the engine bay, 45° seam, longer front bumper and battery box straps instead of thumb screws were the changes made in Oct/Nov of '53.

    M38A1 maxes out at 35mph

Another dumb sounding question, but needs asked as well. Correct tire size? What's the story on the engine? Been rebuilt or overhauled in the recent past? A weak engine can give you shoddy performance. Other than that, there's not much else to give any reasons for such low speeds.

What have you done to your JEEP today

I did the same thing this year. They looked fine, and most had around 10psi in them. I'd never noticed any discernible difference. And yes, the tires are typically at least a 6 ply and can go up to 8 and 10 ply. That can really strengthen them.

    Dead Pilot's M38a1

Quite alright, mine isn't as sharp as it once was either. Paint and glue fumes...🤣

What have you done to your JEEP today

I finally got a set of doors today! I've had door frames for awhile now but had never ordered canvas for them. I ran across a post on one the FB A1 pages last weekend and scored a great deal on complete doors and side curtains.

New to the Group with my 1953 M38A1

Looks very nice! Parts through these vendors: Midwestmilitary.com Debellajeepparts.com Armyjeepparts.com Generaltaylors.com QTM parts on eBay There's a few more out there, but these are some great places for whatever you'll need.

Interesting, my motor sticks out about ⅛" less than the vacuum motor assembly.

Correct lol, I'm handy, because my wife doesn't find me handsome. 🤣 All you have to do is run a drill bit large enough to pass the wire through the switch. Since those switches are still available, I didn't mind altering it. And for a piece of mind, throw a little epoxy on the switch itself so...

My go to for any parts is Midwest Military, John is a great vendor, has a lot of knowledge and is close by. You'd have parts in a couple days, which is nice not having to wait. DeBella is another good vendor. General Taylor’s Motorpool and Surplus is a contact I made at the MVPA convention...

I've heard of the no filter setup, not what I'd recommend by any means, but it has happened. Back when I didn't know squat about these, I put a CJ style single action pump on the 53 to replace the electric pump a previous owner put on. Couldn't get the blasted thing to pump, so I put the...

I'm usually around lol, I don't get to take vacations lmao! My '52 is pretty close to being all original while the '53 has been converted to 12V and has quite a few changes. But, that being said, to those who aren't aware of what makes it original don't have a clue.

I'm in east central Iowa, I know a couple people up in southern MN too. Not Wisconsin by any means, but not clear across the continent either lol.

    Doing work....on a '54 A1

It's more like the high-vis green, and it was EVERYWHERE! I cleaned enough of that to have neon snot for days. Ready for another one? Circled is a tag I pulled off and cleaned. What was it? A property tag from the city of Carbondale, IL! I unfortunately don't have a pic of it like I thought and...

    Doing work....on a '54 A1

Well, thank you for starters. Second, hang on to your britches lol. This was how I received my '53. It came out of west central Illinois. I really hated to take that off, but it wasn't in my plan to keep it. I'm not sure which color the Jeep was when that logo was applied since it had up to...

    Doing work....on a '54 A1

My '52 is DOD of 9/52 and SN 22040. Seeing the spreadsheet that Wes posted on FB, there was over 5000 produced in Sept 52 alone. So, that alone blows our thinking of 1-2k per month. Now maybe the average would be there over the entire production years, but I have no idea on those numbers.

    Doing work....on a '54 A1

My 53 is 49940, 5/53. So approx 1k produced every month, 45 per day. If we go two shifts, that bumps the number up to over twenty per. Three shifts will bring it down closer to your number. I haven't the slightest idea on any of it! 🤣 It's fun to try and figure it out though.

    Doing work....on a '54 A1

I was given an opportunity to do some long overdue maintenance on this 1954 M38A1 earlier this summer. It'd been languishing in a barn for at least 15+ years where it ran, but did not move when it was parked. Long story short, rebuilt fuel pump and carburetor, clutch, new hoses and belts, master...

    M38A1 Fuel gauge

Ok, my dumb thought is going to be this, is the float arm out of whack or hanging up?
