OK one more thing I noticed on the way home.. The instrument lights and headlights would "throb" brighter and dimmer.. It got worse the closer I got to home. Is this a symptom of a failing alternator or battery or possibly bad wiring?
Let me explain:
The diesel mechanic who used to own it his a little rubber button on the driver's side that starts the CUCV.
We just turn the key in the ignition to turn the vehicle on and warm the glow plugs.
It always starts within 1 second when we push the button but I have no idea what he...
Awful. My eyes ain't what they used to be. Should we swap these bulbs for white LEDs or a different color?
How many bulbs are used for lighting up the instruments?
I've got the knob twisted all the way and its like these lights are .00005 watts each
awesome link!!! jake is dying to get the black star repainted on the front bumper but we don't know where/which one is the correct one to use as a pattern.
thanks for all the great advice! we try to DIY as much as possible but if the folks who put on the linex also treat the rust as part of the job, that sounds like the way to go.
cucvrus, has it been your experience that the linex guys 'do it all' or would we need to get some rust reformer...
i know how it works but its been years since i had to hop out of a truck stuck in the mud & flip the wheel lockers :)
i want to say the 4x4 instruction guide is still glued to one of the visors but i'm not 100% positive. jake has been out and about with the truck all weekend so i haven't been...
my son hit home depot with the 'supply list' in the above PDF and found most of the correct bolts, nuts & washers. he came home with a big bag and i think the total was less than $5. :)
we will try to thread a few bolts on today or tomorrow (if it wont stop raining) and see if we can get this...
Jake changed the oil by himself yesterday! Today it's pouring rain and he picked up some new headlights and a neighbor found an old Jerry can he gave us that we are going to remove the rust from and paint
He wants to play with the 4wd next. He hasn't messed with that at all.
Thank you!! That's exactly what I needed. We have a few spots to sand and repaint and are on the fence about painting the antenna bracket and mast. They're od now so it might look odd on a tan cucv
A big thanks to richingalveston for sending me the original fullsized antenna bracket installation images.
I've rotated and compiled them into a single PDF file I'll attach here.
Warthog, or whoever, feel free to add this to the CUCV TM "accessories" or however you want to do that as it...
