Have you tried this? I’ve noticed when my grounds behind the instrument cluster and by the tdm had issues my alternator would run in the yellow and I’d have wait light issues.

Just curious - any specific reason you want to swap the backing plate - you should be able to clean existing one with minimal effort - or has yours been damaged in some way?
I updated my post - with the fan running full time, temp should stay pretty steady @ 180 - I was on my phone and mis-remembered my temperature gauge...I'm sorry if I caused any confusion.
Have you tried unplugging the tdm? You could check your Thermostatic switch - boil some water and see if the circuit opens. It’s not unusual to have bad parts out of the box.
Thermostat wasn’t opening. You can feel the lower hose and return hose - if the engine is hot and those hoses are not - thermostat isn’t opening/coolant isn’t circulating. I can usually watch my gauge and when my temp hits about 190, I see it drop and hold for a while because the thermostat...
A couple of quick thoughts- have you put a new radiator cap on? When I swapped my thermostat it was bad out of the box. Beyond that, unfortunately, I think your going to need to crack open the tm and follow the troubleshooting procedures for your fan. Checking voltages and functionality of the...
I recently ordered mine from epay. Not a whole lot of options for that part. Good news is it’s probably the easiest repair you’ll ever do on your hmmwv 😀
Correct functionality should be thermostat opens first - then fan kicks on. If that’s not happening your thermostatic switch could be failing and/or your thermostat could be on the fritz. The tms have some good procedures to troubleshoot the fan system.

I had something like this happen to me when I exchanged my coolant. You could have an air pocket in the system or could be a failed thermostat. When it gets up to temp, feel the upper and lower hoses - if they’re not equally hot - that can indicate your thermostat may not be doing it’s job. You...
For what it’s worth, I was getting intermittent unusual fan on/off behavior. After a lot of troubleshooting (the tsm have good guides for checking each part of the system) my thermostatic fan switch was the culprit - it eventually failed so the fan was always disengaged.
The hissing noise is...
Sunday was rained out, but I was able to swap my glow plugs today. Went off pretty easily. Of course, I bought the extractor tool, but none of my plugs were swollen - go figure.

Did a lot of little things:
- Replaced radiator cap
- Replaced thermostatic fan switch (seems to have fixed my fan issue)
- Changed transmission fluid/filter
- Changed transfer case fluid
- Changed Engine Oil/filter
- Changed front and rear diffs
- Sprayed down interior to kill my insect...
It's a moog problem solver. I ordered from hummer parts guy. I don't know much about the parts you linked to. I'm sure there are folks on here who can say whether that will work for you.
