HDN Thanks, it’s nice to be up and running again. I also find it interesting that the swap is in the TM, from what I’ve learned from this job the A3 was the only truck that ever used the 1545. I was fortunate to find a good trans rebuilder that talked me into going with the 545 and was a big...

Got the deuce up and running finally. New trans is working well. Sticky front brakes from sitting all winter, but shifting smooth. Here’s a couple pics of the new 545 and the 1545 side by side

    6.8 V10 in a deuce?

I have a v10 in my old Dodge dually, it’s a nice running motor with good power, but it guzzles gas like no other. Still might be cheaper than diesel these days though.

Worked great, couple of tugs and it slid right out under the fuel tank. Might need a friend to help slide it back in, but plan on going back in the same way.

Ya, went pretty smooth. Kinda have to work it around the cross member a little, but all good! Easier than a Chevy truck. I’ll take some pics when I get the rebuilt installed hopefully in a couple weeks

Thanks, we have the beach and some logging roads to cruise on. Get most of my firewood from drift wood on the beach. Truck works great for that. I’ll definitely let you know how the swap worked and post some pics when I re install the trans Cheers!

    Allison 1545 Automatic Transmission Specs

I don't know, I need to do some more research, but that looks like the adapter ring the trans bolts to ? I was told I need to change the actual flywheel/ring gear, along with changing out the flex plate, with two different ones. I'm still trying to figure it out. Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply, and the help. That is spendy! The trans always had a hard time shifting into 4th gear, and finally started slipping when in reverse, just like everybody else that's had problems with these. The fluid was black, I'm sure its tired. The 15-40 was changed out 6 yrs ago. Its...

    Allison 1545 Automatic Transmission Specs

Hello all, you can add me to the list of smoked transmissions. I'm in the process of replacing my 1545 with a 545. Does anyone know what the Cat part number for the flywheel that needs to be replaced is. Been looking in TM's can't find it.
