My issue was customer service people consistently contradicting the previous person I'd talked to and much of what they told me being incorrect completely (some of which I found out on my own the hard way). When I tell people who ask me about my HMMWV purchase one of the things I tell them is to...
Well I think I've gotten the original question answered but now I've got a new one. I just used feeler gauges under the old retainer and measured them. It originally had shims equaling .045 in it, but now it's measureing .14-something and bottomed out. I didn't remove anything else so I don't...
An excellent question I should have realized I needed to answer before it got asked. The half shaft going into the geared hub. Is it in one of the manuals in the TM section or am I just not good at searching them?
Anyone know where in the manual it gives the procedure for determining how many shims to use in the input seal retainer? Closest I saw was how to install a new seal in the old retainer. I ended up with a new retainer as well and I'm not 100% sure the same spacing will work. Or will it still be...
The threaded shaft. I don't think I've heard the correct term for it, but it's stuck in part 6 in the graphic. Right now the best I can think of is to pull the whole thing off, take it to the shop, heat it, and try hammering it out again. I'm hoping someone here is an actual mechanic with a...
Anyone got advice on removing the front upper ball joints? I've got one stuck and my air hammer just scarred things up (it's a harbor freight joke though, I'm planning on borrowing a decent one). Thanks.
I don't know if you've got a route chosen, but I did a little search on Mapquest. For about the same amount of time on the road as the suggested route, you can swing by Forbes Field in Topeka, KS. I've been to two places there I can say are pretty cool. The Combat Air Museum and Museum of The...
Just a cool factor? Isn't the way they're spoken about in hushed tones indicative of just how great they are? Only the uninformed will stand there like Ace Ventura whenever someone says "Shikaka" and everyone else kneels. :p
I wonder if some of those mods push the weight capacity as much as they look. lol
I've welded with doubled up shades before (there are no shop supplied masks at work, I don't normally do any welding, and the guy who ususally loans me his was gone; I'm not just a nimrod) and it didn't work worth...
I've seen more projects put in the way for an indefinite period of time (jokingly justified as "so I don't forget about it") than finished projects. I like your way of thinking. lol
Does anyone know a good replacement for the dash bulbs? I got a pair of Sylvania 1891 bulbs that fit and turned on, but apparently they were too much for the housings and melted them to the point I had to chip them out. All I found in a search was the LED replacements. Thanks.
I'll first say that I now have a vehicle I've wanted for 20 years because of Govplanet, and I appreciate that. I'm sure it's no small task to work between the gov't and the everyday joe. In the big picture I'm happy they're around and appreciate what they're doing.
However, I'm curious if...
The beast lives! Update the notes, a complete lack of a wait light can also be bad plugs.
I didn't know they were bad, but I was betting they were. I'm not sure what water pipe you mean, but it didn't come with anything. And thanks for the tip on the tip chunk removal, I'll file that away for...
