    CAN YOU PUT A CHEVY 572 IN A M715?

You can do anything you want if you have the money.... I can't imagine why you'd put such a huge expensive motor in this vehicle though... For the money you'll pay for that engine alone, you could probably do a 4BT/4500/205, with new ring and pinion, lockers, and a partridge in a pear...

    reliable diesel rebuilders?

Couldn't have said those 2 things better myself... I'm still too young, (I hope) to say this will be my last truck, but as much work as I need a truck to do, I certianly don't mind putting a little exstra dough over time into it considering that it will STILL be less than buying a new truck in...

    Brake upgrades?

I'm sure it can be done, odds are that the toughest part would be the speed sensors, and how to tie them in. Good question though... Consider it added to the thread...

    Brake upgrades?

Well, I'm gathering a lot of info so far, so thanks to everyone for that. My next question pertains to brakes. Where can I go to get bolt-on brake upgrades? Better rotors, drums, possibly even a rear disc kit? Master cylinder, booster, lines? Most of the "upgrade" kits I've found are for lowered...

    reliable diesel rebuilders?

The most off-roading it'll see is the dirt road that goes to my house, and the dirt road that leads to my lake house in NH... Maybe even a camping trip here and there... Mostly on-road, towing, hauling firewood, with a trailer full of firewood, and the most abusive of activities, plowing... No...

    reliable diesel rebuilders?

True... I know that this will not make me any friends among the purists here, but to be completely forthright, my intention is not to have a perfectly restored military vehicle. I want to use the 1008 chassis because it's tough as nails, and have a diesel for reliability and relative economy...

    reliable diesel rebuilders?

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome and the informed replies so far... Keep 'em coming!!! I'm still in the research phase of the project, but the decision has been made, and it's definitely happening. As an aside, what is everyone's opinion here on a full Cummins 6BT swap? Doable? Ridiculous...

    reliable diesel rebuilders?

Hi all... I'm new here, and I'm in the very beginning stages of planning an M1008 project. I plan on a complete frame off restoration, 4L80E add, reman NP205 case, etc... etc... I've already been on the phone with the guy at off road design thanks to the recommendations of many on here as far as...
