Thanks again. Been going through the checks in TM-9-2320-280-20. So far, I have good switches (rotary and neutral switches), power to the starter (6A), and continuity at 14 (A&B). What I do not have is a signal at 74A to the starter. Need to check continuity at body harness today to see if I...
Many thanks! Yes, I have all the TM's for this any my other vehicles, but do not recall seeing this. Will take another look. Struggling with a bad harness (I think). Starter is not getting a signal from 74A and everything else checks out.
Wow! Never heard of starting the starter solenoid if there is a control box failure with a paper clip you can start the truck from that plug. Can anyone provide details? I just ran into this problem and it would save me a trip with the tow truck! Thanks!
All good advice from the contributors on this subject. Just checked the brake fluid in the clutch reservoir that had turned yellow and mixed some with water to confirm it is DOT 5. Need to top up now but will eventually have to flush it. Thanks to all!
Hi TOBASH,
I just acquired an M1097A1 and it is having similar issues as mentioned above. I also have the KDS green label CR-2699 smart start on my HMMWV and I do not get the glow plug light and the battery voltage shows low. I have a new alternator (because the last one burned out) and also...
Yikes! 60 mph in a Deuce is white-knuckle for me! I drove my M109A4 from Raleigh, NC to San Antonio, TX in 4 days and maxed out at 56 mph. That is a very scary speed in that thing. On another trip to Nova Scotia Canada from Raleigh I unintentionally managed to get up on 3 wheels on an exit ramp...
Hi m715mike,
As you indicated, I was thinking of taking the test for a Class B or A license (non CDL) and then claim an exemption. Since I alo operate a ranch, I can use it as an agricultural vehicle with restrictions on and around the ranch until I get used to it. Haven't bought it yet, but...
Nice! I was looking for something. My Deuce had mats that were so disgusting and torn up that I did not even keep them (but should have to make measurements). They caused a lot of rusting, so I repainted and used truck bed liner to paint the floor. Now I am thinking of putting some nice mats to...
I have a VRM-5080 in my M109A4 and it works nicely. I got the full kit with antenna, etc. but had to make up a connection so I could move the head unit to mount it just off the CTIS mounting. The main unit is located under the passenger seat. I have it wired into a Clansman intercom system...
I just did some recent work on my 109A4 and never had any issues. Also, was able to get the right O-rings (think they are 5/16). Did not have issues finding them, but like any parts, I always buy more than I need. I always keep like 6 spares on hand. In fact, I always keep lots of spare...
I have also been looking at buying a 5-ton vehicle to compliment my fleet. This is what I came across in Texas, which allows me multiple ways to get around a CDL, Apparently, Texas is vintage military friendly.

It is a commercial version, the IW12140S. It did not come with the FLU-419 and is not standard issue for the SEE. Mine doesn't look to be the underwater version, which is fine. Going SCUBA diving to change the tires on my Deuce or MOG is like putting gas in a car I've already wrecked. I am...
Many thanks for the tip. I have no desire to deal with broken lugs on my M109A4. I will try to test it out on some MRAP rims I picked up to get the adjustments right.
I purchased my FLU-419 a few months ago for my small ranch in Texas. Haven't been able to do too much with it yet, except fix the fuel system that was sucking air. Now that I got that fixed, I am looking around at implements. I just did some calculations: Horsepower = Pressure (PSIG) × Flow...
I recently snagged one NOS grade for $338 delivered on eBay. I was lucky. Keep looking and you will eventually find one. I have seen a few. I haven't been able to try it yet due to work and travel, but if the specs are on, this will make short work of anything. I and FLU-419 for my ranch in...
