Guys, I am confused about the above, that several of you agree on.
Are you telling me that IF one of these bulbs burn out, the corresponding alternator for the burned out bulb will not charge? Even if nothing is wrong with the alternator????

Yep, turns out one of the batteries was indeed bad.
They had both showed 12.7 volts and the spec gravity had showed them both fully charged.............
........... BUT, when load tested.... one did check bad.
Guess that goes to show things are not always as they seem at first.

I have a question about a friends M1028.
When he turns the key on the glow plug light comes on [but it is dim] and the the glow plug relay starts to chatter.
He waits about ten seconds and tries to start it. The glow plug light goes off and the relay stops chattering but the engine will not...
I can't say for sure, but probably.
I use Walmart Super Tech for Outboard motors. It is in the blue gallon jug and now costs 10 dollars and some change.
I have used it in my 5.9 Cummins for about 3 1/2 years and swear by it. I use it in my M1028 also.
It is the most economical 2 cycle I have...
WOW....... you are very fortunate to have come out of this unhurt.
Somebody mentioned using concrete blocks earlier....... that is not a good idea either. They will / can break and leave you hurt or dead.
