We have a couple of these, and I was shocked at the cost of one of those batteries. So, all of our trucks carry slave cables and we’ve found the best way to start these guys is to use the slave cable. Sure, they can be pull started, but what a PIA.
We just got three complete sets to do three of our trucks, two 1088's and one 1083. We ordered them within the last month, and I'm not trying to be coy on purpose, but my mechanic found them somewhere and I really don't know where.
Yes, A1. The slats are just to keep the middle boards from popping up. None of the wood is screwed to the trailer. Easily removeable to replace when needed.
I have eight 1040's which all run great. We've had good luck with all the units we have. Very dependable and when load banked will consistently push more than rated kw.

I have searched thru the forums for the actual TM's for the MEP-007A with no luck. I know the only difference in the A and B is the engine, but I'd still like to have the correct TM. I have just acquired three 007A's, and need to go through and service them. One has a total of 6 hours.
