You just nailed it. You really only need to worry about runaways if you have an auto. Brakes + one of the taller gears = it's going to die, especially if you are at a dead stop. Period.
And it would pull a deuce pretty well. We have the 366's in all of our 7500 series bucket trucks, and the one with 7.17 gears and 48x(25 front, 31 rear)x20 Firestone flotation tires freaking gets it. It's also well over CDL weight. So if it pulls it fine, I'd imagine it would do fine with a...
if it has a press on ring gear, just replace it while you have it apart. It should only take a few minutes to knock the old one off, and then a few minutes with a torch to put a new one on. Simple, and it should only cost about 25-30 bucks.
Wow.... some nice looking trucks in here so far.
I think is going to end up about like yours CHVSS65... looks perfect. It's not too too big and it's not too stockish. Would you mind sharing your specs are far as tire size and lift amount (If any) and what wheels you are running. I mean, I...
Thread title says it all. Posts your bobbed deuce pics here please.
I don't have a deuce, but I have my heart set on one. My life isn't going to be complete until I have one in my possession.
Really? My grandma has lived here since the mid 90's and nobody has ever really gotten out of line. Did you live in Mallard Point or in the newer neighborhood at the end of the road?
If it's going to be like that, then I am really looking forward to pissing some people off :)
I would be buying a stock one.
Could anyone suggest how much money I should have on hand before I even go pick up a truck? Factoring in possible repairs, ect...? Perhaps just a rough guess to make sure I will be prepared. Not for the bobbing... just for getting the truck.
Cool deal. I can't wait to see some of these trucks in person. I think the Deuce is going to suit me the best because of the size, but if the right deal comes along on a 5 ton when I am ready, I might snag it instead.
Damn! I live on horseshoe road! Well, my grandmother has a house here, and I find myself here a good bit of the time out working in the garage. Ever remember seeing any white YJ's on 35's or a slightly lifted Land Rover Discovery?
I don't own any military vehicles, but after reading on here and looking at pics for the last few days, I don't think my life will be complete without a bobbed deuce or 5 ton. I love offroad stuff, and the thought of something like that is insane. This forum kicks ass. I hope I can contribute...
