Yes, there is a shim. This was on there when I received the truck so I figured it needed it. -

1988 M998 Starter motor stuck while cranking over, pull the seat as fast as I could to disconnect the batteries. Apparently I was not fast enough. When I went to connect the battery cables, I got a lot more spark than normal. (should be none) The starter got stuck on me once before a couple... -

That’s normal huh? Doesn’t explain Why the first starters Bendix stuck in the flex plate and never disengaged. Hence why it burned up I assume? So I wonder why the solenoid was making noise and it was so hot after cranking hours before. Is it possible that the KDS “smart start” box kept... -
