Didnt post for a long time, was too busy with other things, but I still have the M1009 and use it off salt-season ;) got her running on saturday, been sitting for 5 months, that was kind of a long winter, but not very much snow...also short video of the start ;)
some time gone since the last post...But the CUCV is still doing well, today the M1009 got some service , engine oil & filter, greasing driveshafts and joints and I decided its time to fix the t-case output seal..sat in there like welded, 15 minute job took an hour atleast o.O anyone ever...
put my M1009 back on the road today (Have it seasonally registered here in Germany from April 1st to november 30th), started right up after sitting for 4 months, batteries in and started on first attempt...well a bit rough but still started , that counts haha ;)...
threw some grease on the pitman arm connections today, had a clunk noise when turning left, now its solved no more "weird" noises on turning any direction, she´s ready for road safety inspection now..illegal to drive without that in germany ..lets hope I can post more in the future, M1009 was...
took the CUCV for a final spin today....tomorrow I´m going to take the license plates off :shrugs:
(temporarily, dont worry, my dad just bought a car and now my M1009 cant be in his insurance as placeholder anymore :D so I have to get an own ...kinda tricky & expensive in germany so I have to...
today (&yesterday) I spent some time with a buddy, we took the K1500 out for a snowboard run at night, and the other day the M1009 for a long snow run :D filmed with a GoPro

No, in the headlamps I´ve put some Phillips +60% bulbs , they work fine for me. (Im not 100% sure if its really phillips but im sure it said +60% on the package...is like 2 years ago that i`ve replaced the old ones)
I doubt LED headlamps are legal here in germany ....
Today I checked all fluids & batteries, then went for a snow drive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSBqZhO-fac&feature=youtu.be
while I was on the way I did some grocerie shopping aswell... CUCV was the best attraction on the parking lot :D
Its a few of the german CUCV owners "whatsapp" group I guess :P I really look forward to the summer meeting next year, hopefully I will make it up to there. I think we have around 40 people in there, growing slowly^^
Today I finished my "sunvisor & roof lamps" project. I know I offend the original CUCV look with it, but I wanted roof lights & the truck to fit into my garage. That was the only solution possible.
The lamps are powered off a relay which gets activated from the highbeam circuit. I think just a...
Today I replaced the "rear pinion seal" (is that the correct term?) ..it was leaking diff oil if you drove for more than a hour, when it was hot it started to drip. So I decided it had to be done before the winter hits us (snow already on the "Feldberg" Mountain near me :cookoo: ...I´m also 800m...
Yesterday I spent my first holiday this year under my CUCV :grd: , replaced axle shaft seal and c-clip, cleaned the diff, put a new gasket & fresh oil in and so far it seems all fine (The M1009 is the daylie now since my 6.5td K1500 quit starting...thats why it had to be done as quick as...
Yesterday I took my M1009 to a local mudbog event (very very rare in germany !) and we had lots of fun there :D
oh and heres a short video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UprjTiqiZq8
To prevent this from happening just put some fresh oil or grease on the Oil Filter Seal ;) then tighten it by hand only! When you do your next oil change it will come off easy with a strap style filter wrench or with just strong hands ;)
dont you have problems with the fan throwing water into the aircleaner and therefor killing the engine when you are in "brakepedal" deep water :? ..thats what I fear ...
It was pretty simple, the Samurai ran later the day again. The water just killed the ingnition , they spent some time with tools under the hood and then it started to sputter & needed some pedal to keep it alive but then it was ok.
for the M1009 I found out about adding a Snorkel from the...
Today I lubed the window crank inside and painted the Tailgate & the crank cover (Coverplate both sides & mouting area, Tailgate just the side to the bed). had some paint left and decided to paint the sparetire mount aswell.
...also I started doing research about a snorkel, I think I was...
today I finished installing the new parking brake cable and took the CUCV to the TÜV, 15 min before they closed I got in, got the new cable inspected & INSPECTION PASSED without any problems :naner: no worries for the next 2 years hopefully :D
oh yeah, good tires are your life insurance, had...
today I went for the TÜV inspection, everything went fine & good until the brake test: front&rear both sides evenly good, also the parking brake...but it wont release aua . Then we found out that it will release if someone pulls the brake cable... so thats a major problem, inspection not passed...
