When first getting the FLU HME it was smoking badly. Did a fair amount of research and settled on Liqui Moly .
Not that I can say what actually fixed the problem, but it went away.
I do have to give those Toyo M55s some extra credit.
They've been on there for about 20 years and still look like they could be a year old, despite our brutal UV. And the thread is in great shape, except for where the tire chains have left some marks. Needless to say, it doesn't get driven on...
It does indeed affect the suspension on my Ram 3500 DRW quite a bit.
But it's not so much that the trailer is heavy (just over 10,000 lbs. as I recall) as that the rear 20 feet are empty space. Most of the weight is in the living quarters up front.
With the axles centered under the garage...
It's a toy hauler. There's a 20-foot garage in the back.
Over 4K weight on the coupler (by how much I don't know), so the M1008 goes down to about two inches from the bump stops.
You may want to clean off the hub surface that the spacers rest against. And that doesn't look like much thread engagement on the bolts holding it on.
Either way, don't forget to retorque the spacers after a little driving.
Well, they could be mounted on a 4-inch wide rim, too, but should be on 10.5 to 11 inch wide rims to work as intended. For improved cornering I'd even go to a 12-inch wide rim, but not under 10.5 for basic daily driving.
Try CPO Outlets. Usually cheaper, especially if refurbished (which I usually get) and/or on sale.
Inspired by earlier posts, finally got off my butt and ordered a 3/8 drive Milwaukee ratchet for an upcoming project. It was $61, I think, delivered.
That was for a bare tool and all I needed...
Yeah, in an ideal world I'd replace all the gaskets and seals before putting that one back into service. I'll try to remember to try turning it a tiny bit today, just to satisfy my curiosity.
If I remove the heads now, with my luck I wouldn't find the heads again when it came time to reassemble...
Bighorn, I've been wondering about the current health of a 350 I pulled out of a '76 GMC quite some time ago. It's now on standby for when/if the 6.2 in the M1008 gives up, but you're painting a grim picture here.
