Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!

You may be pleasantly surprised by cost of freight. Calling or using freight direct websites will get the best rates. Avoid the brokers. I shipped a main generator (600-lbs) from Las Vegas to home in NC for $175 via YRC. It came in promptly. They transferred it to the bed of our pickup truck...
The one that I bought is isn't housed for outside so I'll put it under cover; probably in the barn. It will need ventilation.... nothing fancy, but a small room would get warm.
Hi - sorry about the delayed response. I've been very busy. No, not yet. Please don't laugh at me, but it's cold here and so this project is on hold until spring. I know... North Carolina is cold, right?..!!!
Peter, a regular in the forum, gave me this guideline:
MEP 15KW - Transformer minimum 30 KVA (or 45KVA more availability) MEP 30KW - Transformer minimum 75+ KVA
MEP 60KW - Transformer minimum 125+ KVA
Input 3 Phase 208 Delta
Output 3Phase 208Y/120...
To understand this we have to back up a bit. There's a lot of talk here in the forum about the legs being unbalanced and this is a valid concern. What's happening when you try to make three phase (3P) into single phase (1P) is a little different. In the idea 3P world, the current that runs...
As I understand it, the issue isn’t so much heavy load as it is imbalance. Any load creates heat. The case on the main generator has to dissipate it. Loading one pair of legs and not the other creates hot sections on the main generator. This can lead to failure. Running a three phase generator...
As always, electrical work for much less complexity requires permits and implementation by a qualified electrical contractor. Some levels of complexity requires that a licensed engineer provide oversight. I’m neither electrician nor licensed engineer. Proceed at your own risk.
I can’t comment on connectors.
Yes, the bonding strap is the one that you describe. Bond means to connect.
You both need to ground your trailers. There’s a bolt on it somewhere for this purpose. Also, there should be a wire that runs from the bolt to the GND terminal. I believe it’s behind the...
Nice! Yes, there are a couple of ways that 400-amp services are divided up into 200-amp services. A 400-amp disconnect is used in some parts of the country. They often resemble Frankenstein switches! A meter pull is a valid way to service a system as long as there's a way to disconnect the load...
Looking good! You've created a non-separately derived system because your neutral is not switched. In this situation you do not bond neutral to ground at the generator. To make your diagram perfect you might draw your grounding electrode, but this is a not on my part because I understand them to...
Picture's worth 1,000 words! I'm happy with this. To make this better would you please mark it up with wire gauge and material (al or cu)? You should be using the 75-C column in the ampacity chart for NEC
Feeding panels with large capacity from a panel with smaller capacity is a red flag for me. Can you sketch a diagram or take a couple of pictures? Both would be great. You can pencil the sketch and take a picture of it to make it easier.
