1008 Bed Capacity and ?

New to CUCV I don't have one yet but wanted to see what the loading capacity is I believe I saw 1.25 Ton. I am looking to replace a late model 1/2 ton pickup with it and up the bed capacity. Need to move 1 ton on regular basis. Also did any model ever come with the 6.5L GM Diesel or has anyone done a switch? I know the switch is done alot in the HMMWv world but never saw it mentioned with the CUCV. Just trying to learn some things before I take the dive in.
