I'm new to all of this and appreciate the knowledge and comradery on this site.

Currently restoring a Deuce and a 1987 FLU 419 SEE. The Deuce now has a (severely upbuilt) 700hp (approx.) 5.9l Cummins 12v and an 'upbuilt' 5 speed manual NV4500 (both out of a '98'ish Dodge 1 Ton).
Sort of bumbling my way through this build and trying not to make any major mistakes more than once.
Might be a rather simple question for you all but what is the best way to remove the 'inner' wheel hub bearing on my Deuce? Everything is off the spindle. Wondering how to service the inner bearing and get all the old grease out of the wheel hub assembly. These seals seem hard to find and stupid-expensive ($65 a piece CDN for inners then same for outers). Basically $900 CDN aft taxes (in this great Socialist Country) for the 6 sets off of eBay. Not sure if anyone else has solved finding parts likes these that weren't packaged 70 years ago.

How does the rear wheel hub assembly come apart?

Here is a link to a video showing where I'm at: https://photos.app.goo.gl/WHKrDFsFA6zLqpbbA .

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Welcome aboard. This is your first time posting here and the greeting crew often brings lobster so grab a plate. You're surrounded by support and books have been written to guide the process. On the Maple leaf up link you'll find Rob Love and maybe Brian Asbury. I ask these local fellas about parts first then we chat with Memphis equipment, Alpha Heaven, Norm at Downtown Parts in Cali (been a while since he found 4 soft tops buried in a sea can). Here's another link for some extra shopping. I have not spoke with these fellas recently so please give us an update as to their supply status when you folks chat. https://canada247.info/explore/onta...land/niagara-military-parts-905-732-9492.html

Some modern options for parts can be found here but I have not checked prices lately. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/forums/korean-war-to-vietnam-war-vehicles-tms.118/

I usually carry the TM books and would look that removal process up because I play guitar, mandolin, piano, not mechanic. In this link are some of the G749 series Tech manuals, TM's. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/forums/korean-war-to-vietnam-war-vehicles-tms.118/

We can look through bills later for prices and don't buy anything until we chat. There are parts on shelves of folks that don't play a lot of social media so patience will find you those people. My links for parts are buried in here so you can find some info. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/g749-preservation.52255/

The trucks are so fun once they're up and running. One photo shows a duramax stuffed inside but the Cummins has always been the desired engine to push anything heavy. Keep those photos coming and thanks for stepping up to save the mighty deuce.

I'll definitely look in to these links when I have a second and try to source more local parts and support these guys. Thanks again for the help and encouragement.

I live about 40 minutes from Rob Love and had the pleasure of meeting him last year in Westbourne, Manitoba at a Wrecking Yard that has quite a bit of military surplus and odds and ends.

The deuce project basically stems from me watching MASH with my Dad as a kid. The sound and versatility of those trucks (albeit the American models with the multi-fuel, duals, and standard transmissions) just always seemed cool. Next year my Dad and this Deuce will turn 70. I will be taking him for a ride while playing 'Suicide is Painless' and laughing about some Jamie Farr bit.

Hoping to keep this passion for 'old Green iron' alive in this area. Most of the stuff I've seen in Canada 'in the Wild' was up North in Logging or Fire Camps.
