So this is a long shot but I am just angry and figure its worth a shot. I bought 2 MEP 531a generators that were strapped to pallets at the Butner North Carolina location. Yellow freight said they picked them up, but they never made it to Lima Ohio and were never check in at the Dayton terminal. They have admitted they lost them, but only want to settle for $298 which does not even cover the cost of shipping. My broker is willing to pay me out regardless, but in digging found out 5 other items have come of short on that route. so i have been checking Craigslist and Face book but if anyone can check serial numbers if they see them for sale they are 13227 and ex 03442 both are green.

I hate a damn thief.

Ignorance can be improved on with time.
Stupid I can deal with and might be fixable too...
But a thief is just inexcusable!

I had an 803 'lost' at a YRC terminal in NY. They thankfully found it... almost a MONTH later. Its not going to be getting better any time soon...

Yep, sadly we've somehow gotten to the point where criminals are "victims" and are not to be prosecuted. Those that they steal from are somehow the cause of all the worlds "problems".

Hopefully your 2 units will be found as LITD's 803 was.

So they aren't stolen. It is a lost freight shipment.

Terminals have cameras all over the docks for their protection, if an employee was lifting stuff it would be caught before they told you anything. Doubtful someone popped a trailer at a truck stop and just happened to grab those 2.

Your broker should have offered you insurance on them. That's his fault. $10000 insurance costs $10 on used items when I ship them and i hope they drop the motor and crack the block.

So where did they go?

Probably had their bill of ladings ripped or fallen off and they are sitting at a terminal in in the LAF trailer.

Some freight companies have gone to just lots of barcode stickers to put all over things and pallets rather than just 1 BOL paper.
Makes sense. So if the person whose generators were lost accepts the shippers scrap price offer, then the shipper can head on over to the LAF trailer and do whatever he wants with the generators? You'd think they'd check the LAF trailers along the route for the guys missing stuff before they made a ridiculously low offer of settlement if they were really interested in returning the gens to their rightful owner.

Take 36" posthole auger dig 8' deep hole.
Insert fertilizer ( thief)
Fill hole 3/4 full of dirt
Plant nice big tree in hole
Finish filling the hole
Problem gone and you get to enjoy a beautiful tree!!

Make sure it's an endangered species of tree. Then they need a special permit from the tree-hugger branch of the Feds to mess with it.

Sometimes they find them later. It just depends on the company. I've had em lose 1600s on wheels with runflats stacked 5 high. That's a 3200lb pallet. Not like someone just rolled em to their pickup

Back in 1849, it would take about a week by horse and wagon to get from Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas to Ft. Riley, Kansas
That was on a good day, when you didn't wind up with an arrow stuck up your A__
Just saying

apparently now if your Yellow freight it takes 2 days shy of 4 months to get from Butner NC, to Lima Ohio

We use Old Dominion for all our LTL, never had a problem. We add insurance to every shipment as the legally required insurance for freight forwarders is limited to $ 0.10 to 2.00 per pound plus the freight forwarder gets to keep the shipment if it got damaged and they pay the claim.

At least you got your genset’s
