2008 M1097R1_570xxx serial number
This was a 1ST Cavalry vehicle
This rare R1 with a 570K serial number is not like 95% of the 3 speed R1 trucks.
This truck has a mix of 12K GVWR and 10K GVWR components that make up a very attractive package IMHO, the R1 designation means it was completely rebuilt from a bare frame with all new or re manufactured and upgraded parts in 2008, The R1 trucks went through RECAP which is the most comprehensive of all the programs at Red River Depot.
The Drive train of this R1 including the Engine, Transmission, Transfer case, differentials and drive shafts are all rated at 12K, it is rumored that the 4 speed R1 trucks have a 4l85E (15K) transmission instead of the normal 4L80E but I cannot confirm this.
The suspension including the half shafts, geared hubs and springs (rear are progressive the most desired of all the available springs) are rated at 10K.
This means this 5500LB truck does not ride like a brick on a skateboard and the half shafts can be bought at AutoZone, Summit Racing and others for around $100ea with a lifetime warranty, unlike the 12K half shafts that cost $500-$600 EA.
This truck runs and drives GREAT!! and has very good oil pressure for a 6.5L diesel at 60psi cold idling (was confirmed with a mechanical gauge)
Everything works, lights, instruments, trans light, transfer case lock light etc., trans has no codes
There is no blow-by and she starts immediately with no smoke
It has all heavy duty Moog Problem solver tie rod ends, pitman arm and idler arm.
ALL fluids and ALL filters have been changed.
The fuel tank was drained and a new OEM drain plug installed.
All new OEM hood bumpers installed.
New windshield washer nozzles installed.
A new transmission pan with a drain plug was installed, I do this by default as most pans have been over torqued.
NOS doors, they have very minor brown spots in the windows, see pictures.
Glow plugs have been tested and are good.
All the U joints and steering components, tie rods etc. look to be in great shape.
This truck has a good, clean blue Texas title
This truck has most of the “upgrades” that many are looking for:
80 MPH electronic speedometer.
Trucklite LED headlights.
KDS Smart Start EESS box.
Remote reservoir PS pump.
Serpentine belt system.
200A dual voltage alternator.
4 speed transmission.
What needs to be done.
The tires, two are in very good condition and two are in fair condition, they have 2015 date codes so they are beyond what the gov. considers their useful life but appear to be sound.
This truck needs the front end toe in set, someone replaced all the tie rod ends with Moog Problem Solvers and evidently never set the toe in, this is why two of the tires have wear.
The oil cooler fins need to be combed out, this is usually from using high pressure washing equipment, it is a tedious chore but does not require much skill, it needs minor fiberglass work on the left front corner of the hood.
The doors need to be “fit”, this is done by bending the steel frame to match the vehicle and adjusting the hinges and latches, I will leave this up to the new owner.
This truck needs an alignment, most folks will want to remove some shims from the rear suspension to give a better rear tire camber, this like all HMMWVs are set up for the max (10K in this case) GVWR
Disclaimer
This is a surplus military truck, I have described it to the best of my ability.
This Humvee is sold strictly AS-IS, no warranty expressed or implied.
Asking price is $13,500
