This year the planners of the POW/MIA Day Ride have decided to do something different.
Each year for the last several many groups of bike riders have assembled here in Columbus and we supported the effort with MV while other groups made a ride to the Andersonville POW Camp in Andersonville, Georgia.
This year, I think most all of the groups have elected to make the ride to Andersonville and have a ceremony there.
CAMO has been asked to lead the ride From the Infantry Museum here in Columbus to Andersonville with at least 3 MV's (WWII Jeep, Proud American Guntruck, and possibly the Black Widow Guntruck.
Once in Andersonville I intend to establish hasty fighting position and static display at least one vehicle from WWII, Korea, Vietnam and current Iraq/Afghanistan eras.
We are working on getting a HMMV from a neighboring County Sheriff's office. Don't know how that will turn out yet.
Anyhoo...the POW/MIA Ride (at least out component) will leave the Infantry Museum here in Columbus at 09:45hrs 21 September (Saturday) and will return at will Saturday afternoon/evening.
The ride will be appx 51 miles and last prolly 1.5hrs.
If anyone is interested in riding in one of our vehicles and touring Andersonville please come on down to the CAMO Compound around 08:00hrs 21 Sept. and ride along.
They are trying to get Sen McCain to attend but I haven't heard any update on that lately.
More to follow as the time draws near:
