400 trans to 208 adaptor plate

i have an 86 cucv and the tranfer case adaptor got broke when it was lifted off a truck with a loader with forks. the fork bent the drive shaft and the strain cracked the adaptor. i bought one off a 400 that had a 208 behind it . that is to short on hieght. all the holes line up on the trans and transfer but the bottom where it bolts to the cross member is different. can i have mine welded or where can i get the right one. i know some excilent welders that can tig and all that stuff. is it worth it. or should i find a good one
