Because of the mounting of the MEP018 on the 8x8, I have modified the exhaust/muffler so that it exits over the side of the truck. An unfortunate consequence of this is that the air intake temp is now 150°F on an average.
The intake will have to be routed to another area away from the muffler.
Question: What are some of the mods out there, is there a different intake filter arrangement in the system?
TIA for any input (pun intended). :)

Maybe add a shield to the muffler instead of having to rework the intake system on the genny.

just my 2cents

I noticed that you don't have the preheat hose connected to the air cleaner. you could try running with the shutter in the winter position which would not draw air from near the muffler.

A heat shield is a good idea, but the intake is still only inches away from the hot exhaust. A filter canister with the intake on top would be nice...

i have a 018 i ordered a muffler from saturn surplus its the same as the 5 kw the exhaust will exit at the top right then. the kit will comes with the flange adapter for the 10 kw so its intended for either unit.
