Hi gang

new M135 CDN owner here in ontario. picked this up last summer for a bush firewood truck.

engine was rebuilt but never installed. did it this spring

cleaned carb and put new gaskets in it. Will fire but not stay running. Will try changing timing slightly tomorrow after I put a different fuel line on it. I just have something rigged at the moment to an external tank and the fitting leaked a few drops on my line, engine backfired a bit and there was some flames!

All good.

But the reason for my question....there is a plate that goes above the float bowl between 2 identical gaskets and then the air horn on top holds it all together.

I am missing that plate. Any leads on just that? I would love to find a source in Canada just for ease of shipping.

Also the small bore Rochester GC carbs have the same manifold mount if I could find one to tie me over and at least get it running and confirm the engine is good.

Want to put a log loader on it as my old back is getting tired.

I don't have any spare card parts - but if "she's spittin fire" out the top, retart the timing a bit. If its spitting fire out the bottom, advance the timing. AND you might should check your firing order. Swapping 4 and 3 will sometimes cause it to burp fire...

Fuel leak fixed. Valve lash was a bit tight so I loosened it till I can find my feeler gauge. Timing is correct.

Float was not set properly. Am not happy with the new needle and seat as it does not have the little connector wire from needle to float and the new one sticks a bit when the float drops.

Adjusted float level and will run for a few seconds.

Tomorrow will put old needle and seat in, set float height and valve lash.

Sounds promising that the engine is not a boat anchor.

When you get it right that engine sounds like a sewing machine idling at 450 rpm. The exhaust though will come out the tail pipe with a menacing burble.
