No longer do I have to abuse my "little" car hauler trailer. I have a gooseneck as well, but it's just so long. I picked up this trailer a few months ago for less than I could buy the steel or even a axle. The trailer was for a asphalt roller. So originally it sat lower and only had 6ft of clearance between the wheel wells. I extended the sides of the rear of the trailer. Then used some 5" C channel (Thanks @Spot_ll ) over the wheel areas notched out internally for clearance. Then some 3/8 thick plate to fill in the gap to the I beam. Added some braces between the wheels too. Maybe overkill, but I'm kinda stupid when it comes to loading trailers. So maybe I'll find another APC or something stupid heavy. Most of the oak I had sitting in storage to redeck my car hauler. (Poor guy gets beat on, then his upgrades stolen from him) But I needed a little more oak to finish it out. I added a 13k winch on it as well. I painted it in 383 olive drab to match my truck. And upgraded to LEDs for lights (if you have a trailer, do this) Need to touch up the paint here and there. And mount the battery box. And a few other little things. But I'm happy with how it turned out. I did see a tag on the axles, they're dexter brand oil baths. So hopefully this trailer will hold up well.
