I was hoping to see if there are any military folks or shops that work on the M1078 type of trucks. Our fire department has a few issues that we need addressed, but unfortunately, not many folks in our community that can work on them. Hoping to find someone or a place in North Eastern NC or South East VA.

Specifically, there is a fan issue. The truck overheated on the highway. Seems the fan quit cycling. Had it bypassed, so it runs all the time. This truck is for rescue in high water among other things, so being able to disengage the fan is important. Also have a few electrical issues.

you need a small mom and pop heavy truck place IMHO. Id drive it to them and talk to them so 1. it will draw the mechanics out the door to look at it cause it is cool...... and 2. they will see its a different cabbed Chevy Kodiak/TopKick in many respects.

The concepts on how these work is no different than any medium duty truck. Most all the parts are the same too. Too many in shops assume military stuff is massively specialized so they just say NO we cant work on it. and that is just not the case. In the past (80's back) yes. But in 90's and since there was a complete design shift where every military vehicle had to be built of basically commercial, on the shelf parts, ones out there in the public parts warehouses. Theory was then the parts are manufactured in higher volume since they are on most all other trucks too..... that lowers cost..... and increases availability too.
