A lift or exhaust mods for the front. Bob the rear or spread the tandems.

The stronger axles of a 5-ton will handle the increased rotational stress loads of the bigger tires much better?? There does come a point of diminishing returns while stretching the limits of tire size! Plus the expense of new tires, rims, lifts, and wear and tear on the rest of the drive train. Might just be cheaper to go the 5-ton route?

i have a2 and run 14.00x20(49") with some rubbing at full turn should be better with the a3 as the offset on the rims is different

I run 14.00R20's on mine with no problems. You'll find more information about this topic on the deuce modification and hot rodding page than on this one and a search will reveal the needed mods to run 53's.
