Broke my A3 dogbone

Was backing my truck into the garage after a gopher mound pounding in the backyard, brakes felt weird. Got it in and found brake fluid leaking all over, after more investigation found a brake line crushed and after further investigation the middle axle was twisted.

Found the dogbone came off one side allowing the axle to flex enough to crush the brake line on the drivers side.
WTH? I thought these trucks were heavy duty? They can't take a few gopher mounds but they're good to go on the battlefield?

Had it a few weeks, drove it home and on my property about 10 times. Yes newbie. Is this a normal occurrence?

Don't let it get you down. Just order up some dog bones from this site, fix it and enjoy. By the way, running over the gophers only makes them dig deeper. Ask me how I know.

Guess I should get more specific, the dogbone is fine, it came off the rubber bushing. LOL on the gophers. I need some C4.

Are they a 1 piece item? Bushings are supposed to be fixed in place on the dogbone?

I think since you broke your truck in the first 2 weeks, you should just sell it to me for parts! I haven't had this issue, so not much I can do other than wish you the best getting it back up and rolling again. Once you have it figured out, you can explain it all to me when mine breaks someday!

You can press out the bad ones(not needed in this instance) and press in the new ones. New ones are about $80 but there are some for sale(complete dog bones) for $25.

You ask how can this happen. Very easily and things do wear out and break.

The rubber in the bushings does go bad. You can order a new bushing and press out the old and install the new.

Here is how I fixed a broken dogbone at a GL yard. I didn't want to remove the wheels to get to the outside nut.

You can use the same procedure to take your bone off and fix it.
