Cage or air up M915 brakes

Might be picking up a 915 and I know I can cage the brakes but the outher way was thinking was to take my scuba tank and hook it to glad hand emg. fitting and releasing that way. Then I could use the cab control and brakes. Will the emg. fitting air up all tanks?

You had better take a few tanks. Every time you touch the pedal you release air, and never mind trying to catch all the leaks. If you're towing it, cage them, or better yet make up some long hoses and use the air brakes. If you're planning to drive it, if the compressor is inop, considded towing!

There is a air chuck fitting on one of the drivers side air tanks. It is standard female air line fitting. I hook up my compressor there when I want to work on the brakes without listening to the truck idle. I know it will charge all three tanks from there. I use a double male to make the connection.

A standard scuba tank holds 80 cubic feet of air at 3000 psi. when full. That should be enough to fill the tanks and supply the 100 or so psi needed to operate the brakes, but you will sooner or later run out, especially if (ha!!) you have leaks. You will also have to shut off the scuba tank because it will trip the over pressure bleed on the brakes and let the air out. The craziest I've seen was a guy with a Craftsman air compressor plugged into his RV generator to pressurize the brakes on his RV. It did work however....:shock:

You don't say whether you just need to release the brakes long enough to load the truck on a trailer, if you plan to flat tow it etc. What are you looking to do once you release the brakes?

If you intend to tow it, what are you towing it with and do you have tow bar feet sized for the truck?

The drivers side tank jest behind the cab has a Quick disconect you can plug in there. but if you tow her the front is set up to take atow bar and has air lines set there jest like hooking up a trailer. the truck has a masive air system there is four air tanks it will take some scuber gear to fill it my truck i start it and go grab a coffie come back and complete my trip inspection than my air valve pops off I bet it takes agood 5 min to fill good luck

You can admit aiir through the towing gladhands under the front bumper but the emergency line behind the cab or the rear of the chassis are supposed to be protectyed by check valves which will not allow you to fill the resevior from those points.
