Since the late 1970s the Military Vehicle Collectors of California has hosted the largest annual MV swap meet/rally west of the Mississippi in North-Central CA every April. In 1987 we added an annual FALL version in September. The current venue for both events is in Plymouth, California in the "old West gold country."
The FALL 2024 Camp Plymouth Military Vehicle Show & Swap Meet is September 11 through the 14th, 2024. It is camping-oriented and people also stay in nearby hotels or B&Bs or commute from home. The venue is double-sided. A tent and truck campground and visitor parking lot is at Amador County Fairgrounds. Across the fence is the 49er Village which is an RV park with rental cabins too. MVs and participants are on both sides.
The FALL event flyer is below. Note that this is a very inexpensive event for selling parts and militaria. There is NO VENDOR FEE. Sellers must rent a camp space at either location. That is all! NO VISITOR ENTRY FEE and NO MV REGISTRATION FEE. It is OK to drive MVs around the event. Yes the MVCC is very "non-profit!"
For more information go to www.MVCCNews.net and on the Events calendar you will find documents like this flyer, Basic Training, Daily Briefing activities schedule, golf cart rental info, RV/travel trailer rental info, a restaurant list, and most importantly, our space reservation form which you must use to get a tent/truck camping space at the fairgrounds or for getting a RV site or cabin at the 49er Village in our discounted block.
On the form you will notice the nice discount on 49er sites. For example a standard RV site for us is $42.84 per night. The current price for the public, outside of our discounted block of sites for a four night stay during our week starting Wednesday, is $75.98 average. At some point our coordinator Jennifer will turn un-spoken for sites back to the 49er, and you will have to go through the 49er system to get a site and will pay their normal price. Consider renting an RV site and having our preferred rental vendor deliver a travel trailer, set it up, before you arrive with your MV and trade goods! The total cost compares well with a cabin rental, if available, or a hotel. Or you can tent camp if you do that.
For offsite lodging, you can contact MVCC member Nancy Porter who is a travel agent. She knows a lot about Amador County and might have suggestions you have not thought about. She can also speak about the 40 wineries that are nearby. Her email is Nancy@gts2go.com
