Greetings,
Can anyone identify this vision block?? (what it was used on and where (ex: M48, M41, driver, turret ...)?
Thickness suggest heavy armor. Date suggest Vietnam era. I would like to know what it is before I put it on ebay. Thanks, Jim

It's a lot thicker than a V-100 vision block. About twice as thick. This block has a 1969 date. The M901 first entered service around 1979 or 80. It is possible the 901 (or other more recent vehicles) use the same block that was in use earlier. I dunno. I would like to know what vehicle it was intended for at the time it was made (I.e. what it was made for). I would agree that a turret seems more likely than a hull. I just spent an 2+ hours looking at old photos and most of the of tracked vehicles hulls in the late 60's used periscopes. The M48 cupola may use periscopes as well (I could not find a good picture). The M113 turret pictures of that era show Cad Gage T-60 turrets. These are the same as the V100. The XM734 had 4 blocks in side of the hull. Maybe that? But then the ballistic protection across 114/113/V100 was similar so this thicker block would seem to be for something with better protection.
