So I have the 1/4 ton trailer M101 CDN2. I've seen reference to the M104 CDN3.

Curious as to what the CDN designations mean in the canadian military.

CDN 2 vs CDN 3, and why is the M104 follwed by CDN 3 and the M101 is followed by the CDN 2?

Is it only the trailers that have this CDN marking, or do the Powered vehicles carry it as well?
Can any Canadian personel elaborate or comment?

M101 CDN2 1/4 ton trailers were the replacement for the M100 1/4 ton trailers and were used behind the iltis. I do not know why they used the M101 designation as it was a 3/4 ton trailer originally but added the 2 in the nominclair to distinguish it from the 3/4 ton unit. The M104 trailers are the 1 1/2 ton trailers and the difference that I could find between the M104 CDN2 and the M104 CDN3 was the landing leg. I hope this helps you out.
