Hey guys, I got an 87 GMC v3500 that is a former dually (thus the screen name). Ive got hummer rims for it and 37" Goodyear M/Ts so its SRW now. Anyway, Im wanting to paint it lusterless dark green or forest green and I need to know whats the most durable paint I can use thats still easy to apply with spray can or brush and roller. Im not too worried about looks, but I need it to apply evenly and be a tough finish. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Howdy and welcome to SS Forums. For really great military paint that holds its color go to Rapco Parts and buy some of the Gillespie "383" Green. It's the base coat for all the current military camo patterns. Send us some pics.

Walmart has em in quart cans. Doesnt peel or flake. I used 120 grit in a DA sander to knock the original finish down and their Zinc Primer wet sanded w/ 600 and painted. I got more pics..

I am currently using Rapco's Gillespie paint, but for the last 5 years the old deuce has been painted with a mix of 2 different cans of tractor paint John Deere green and flat black. I always mixed it into an empty 1 gallon can to get the even and proper mix... I preferred to keep it dark green. The paint came from Tractor Supply, and It has never had any scathes get through the top layer. The best part is that the old girl was painted for less than $40 and I still have extra paint

Nothin' but CARC here baby, got plenty of it and a friend who has the full on pressurized suit for spraying it. However I have to trade labor which could be bad depending on how you look at it, he has big projects.

Now THAT idea I like! (Anything cheap is great by me...) I'm just wondering if I can get ahold of some of the OD I really need, so I can try to match the color up...
