Charging batteries

Knowing that I have 12v batteries in my 24v 5-ton, to charge them with my 12v charger, do I have to disconnect any battery leads or can I charge one battery at a time while they are connected and in place? Thank you!

I always charge them while they're still hooked up.

Connected is just find, be careful of the polarity.

I always take them out of the truck.

For me it depends on what kind of battery you have. AGM? I would not take them out. Lead acid? Every time! If they boil over, rather have them in a rubber covered container.
