Cold weather starting

I have been recording some cold start videos and posting them on the Steel Soldiers YouTube channel. My coldest yet was this morning - a balmy -1°. It started quickly with no significant smoke or bucking. Just goes to show how well the glow plug system works when in good order. What’s the coldest temperature you’ve started your truck in?

I started an M35A3 at 0° (before driving it with CARNAC to David Frankenhauser's funeral), and an M925A2 at 9°. I almost always do my best to avoid starting any of my trucks when it gets cold unless it can't be avoided.

If an owner lives in frigid temp, they should make every effort to ease cold starting, block heater, in door storage etc…there are no benefits to cold starting unaided,

The coldest I've started mine was -17* F.

It had two Hawkers in it that were 8 years old at the time.

Normally my military vehicles go through the winter without being started or getting out into the salt. But nothing would start that day except the M998. We used it to jump everything else.

Yeah this was more experimental for me. I have a block heater cable installed, but no reason to run the cord out when we typically have low temps in the 20’s and 30’s.
