Combat door locks

I got these from wsucougarex when I saw them on his M923 recovery and build thread. He has some very cool and useful mods he has done to this truck. I have three boys and there is usuall one or two of them riding shotgun with me when I go out in the Deuce. They like to lean on the door. I tell them its not a good idea but like everything else I say, I dont know what I am talking about. Anybody else have this problem? Anyway the locks came in and I set out to install. Removed the door access panel and became nervous about drilling a hole into something that didnt need a hole in it. So I measured, measured again, and measured one more time for sh!%s and giggles. When I finally came up with some #'s I liked, I grabed my drill and a 25/64 bit. The base of the locks have a slight curve to it, DO NOT flatten it out. I did this and found I needed the extra height to clear the door jam and had to bend them back out. I used 3/8 x1" grade 8 bolts with a washer on each side and a nylon lock nut. You don't need grade 8 hardware, but that's what the military uses and I like the look of it. Once they were on I had to bend the sheet metal coming out of the door jam at the point of the lock a fraction of an inch to clear the slide bolt. The sheet metal is so wavy you wont even notice at all. Got them both on and they work like a charm. Now with them locked I dont have to worry about a zombie pulling out one of my little soldiers and eating their little brains, at least thats what my six year old said. Very easy and practical mod for the deuce. Thanks for the help wscougarex. I hope this helps someone else out with installing on their deuce.

This lock also helped on my driver door rattle. There's about a 1/4" freeplay when the door in it's fully latched position. The door rattles like crazy when trucking down the interstate. This lock took all the freeplay away;-)

Great mod!

I have 2 little guys who ride with me and even with seat belts, I still worry about them leaning on the door or accidently hitting the door lever and the door flys open. I mounted a barrel bolt on the door and when extendeded, the barrel is against the door jam. I really do like the spring on the bolt.
