cpl number for nhc 250

Does anyone know where I can find the CPL number on a cummins NHC 250?

2 locations possible,a tag on top of the injection pump,or the tag on the left hand side of the engine,just under the power steering pump.

Its like an identification number for that specific engine. If you go to order parts they most likely will ask for the CPL to tell exactly what engine to look up.

CPL = components parts listing

and actually, anymore you can't get parts w/out the engine serial number. CPL basically just identifies common engines, but you can't get parts just off of that number.

no, you were right - it's just that's how it used to be. before you used to be able to walk into a cummins parts place and give them the CPL. now, they can't look anything up w/out the ser no. and most places will not sell you any parts unless it is "authorized" for that ser no.

at least, that's been my experience.

but, as stated, both numbers should be on a tag on the side of the front gear case, usually between the injector pump and accessory drive locations.
