It might be the wrong nut. It may not be one for a vehicle air fitting. You could try reusing your old nut.
I 'think' one of those ferrules will work, but you do need the insert. The DOT tubing needs to be compressed between the insert and ferrule to seal properly.
You may just need to get a new piece of copper tubing and reuse your old fittings. (With new ferrules)
Or order the proper new fittings for either copper or DOT nylon.
For copper.
For nylon.
