This past week we did a recovery of a unique variety. We recovered a deuce from a well. Yes a well. It was 8 foot across and about 10 feet deep. Remember the deuce is only 7' wide. I will not give names, to protect the innocent here, but here is the story. A SS member and friend aclled me last week to ask if my son's and I could help recover a deuce from a well. He had been driving the deuce in one of his fields and found , accidently of course, an abandoned well that was covered in a 1.5" concrete slab and the slab was then covered with dirt , weeds and brush. The right front wheel broke thru the slab and the truck fell and rested on the left front fender and on the frame under the fuel tank. It was dangling over a 7' drop. I called another member who had just picked up a wrecker and we planned for a Sat morning recovery. Our plan was to lift the truck out of the hole and pull it with my sons 5 ton tractor. The majority of the time we spent was trying to figure out how the wrecker worked. You need a smart 21 year old, and a TM, and everything came into place. Once we got the hydraulics and boom ops figured out we had the deuce hooked up, lifted, suspended above the well and pulled to safety within 10 minutes. I just love these wreckers. Thanks to all who helped our fellow MD SS . This was all professionally filmed and is being edited for utube. I have posted pictures in an album for you to view. Once we have a utube link I will post it.
