I am fixing an M1008 that was made into a radio truck. Acording to the TM this would make it an M1008A1. However it has a cap on it that I can not find any info on. My NJNG unit had a few of these in the motor pool. Attached are pictures. Any help is great.

HI yes its a M1008A1 the M882 was same type in the 880 series trks.

no clue what the cap is for... my m1008 was a radio truck(a1) from the 117 cssb but had the canvas for the back

HI yes that is something they used not normal, it was maybe do to weather there.

My M1008A1 with radio rack came with cheep white aluminum cap with plastic windows. Yours is nicer than most I have seen.

Seen similar caps on USAF trucks in Misawa. I got the impression it was a sub for the soft top where the weather was usually snowy/wet.

The caps were authorized local purchases that could be made by individual units......caps like that were more common in Guard and Reserve units than in the Active Army.
