I was trying to load a deuce tire & rim into the bed of my CUCV and could not lift this thing to slide it up the tailgate and into the truck. This will be my sparefor the lube trailer that I have to pick up in a few days. Just for the hell of it I hooked up a bunch of bungee cords from one of the tie-downs in the bed of my truck and then to the center of the deuce rim - these bungees were stretched to the max! I had no problem sliding the tire into the truck bed once I did this. Just one more great use for the bungee cord!

I swear by the cheapo pickup truck hoists China Freight sells. Makes loading these type of items an easy load for a guy with a bad back.

Oh Kenny, where were you when I needed help loading this thing! (Ha Ha!). Basically this is something that would help when a person is in the middle of nowhere and has a bunch of bungee cords laying around and no other resources. I was just too lazy to use my floor crane which was not far from the truck but wanted to see if the tension of the bungees could actually lift - it worked too! For some reason, these tires seem to be getting heavier as I get older....Time to sell the deuce I guess.

May just be me but I find it easier to roll a tire that size, a 2x6 works wonders.
BTW you said lube trailer, is it one that has a straight tongue or the one that has the offset? Is the M1008 tall enought to haul the one with the offset tongue? Wayne

The lube trailer I have is the big one with the angled frame. I was fortunate to have a friend with one of these and hooked it up to my M1008. Plenty of ground clearance and the trailer towed with no difficulty. I don't recommend towing this with an M1009 though! I posted some photos already in another thread but will add one to this since you asked. The 2x6 works fine but did not have one close by at the time. I just needed to get the tire up a few inches and prevent it from slipping during the loading process so the bungees accomplished both tasks.

Looks nice DanMartin, nice and expensive. Noted absence of pricing on website!
It's about a grand all told....the mount and the crane are about $500 each. Less if you go with a bolt-in mount for the crane.

A lot less than back surgery (even with insurance). At least, that's the way I like to look at it.

Well Wayne, I'll be driving along I-95 right near where you are located in Baxley. Have you ever seen one of these things? Really huge! The smaller units look like a better system - lighter and probably much easier to haul without the deuce-sized tires. I was looking at some that were coming up on GL in Georgia but they got pilled just before today's starting date. There were about 14 of them all wrapped up in white plastic. Anyway, if you want, I will try to meet up with you on the way back to West Melbourne Florida to let you check the unit out. Years ago we stopped at some barbeque restaurant in Baxley and the food was super! I wish I could remember the name of the place because I wouldn't mind stopping there again. You can PM me or my email address is abroadbent@bellsouth.net 321 427-3070 is my cell number. Alan Broadbent

Wouldn't it have been funny (maybe not) if it had suddenly come unstuck and slingshot forward?

I do admire the ingenuity and the self-confidence to let us poke fun at you.

2Deuces wild, are you guys in northern CA? I have property in McArthur (5 acres) and really want to live up there and leave Florida behind for good! Here we are in Hurricane season again - need I say more? I love the compliment (red neck hoist) - Faye would call it that as well (my significant other). I think up a lot of stuff just out of immediate need - this bungee cord thing is almost insignificant but it worked so well I figured people would laugh at it for a while and eventually use the idea for another application just like I did. It is really amazing how much pulling power there is in a bungee cord!
