OR - 1944 GMC 2 1/2 Ton 6X6 Amphibian Truck (DUKW)
1944 GMC 2 1/2 ton amphibian truck (DUKW). S/N 10796. The frame and original data plate numbers match. I have owned this DUKW since 1991. I took it in the water 5 mins. after buying it and have been out in the local rivers and lakes over a 1,000 times over the past 33 years. Runs and floats just...

I've got one currently in Columbia, SC. Have several sets of wheels and a new set of tires as well as some of the drive shaft tunnels and other misc parts. It needs work to be presentable, but is was driven to where it is parked now (the third place it has been parked since I got it).

It has the MG ring for the assistant driver (only 1 in 3 had this feature). I will have to look for the David Doyle book on the DUKW, it is somewhere in the 'library'.

In the movie "Revenge of the nerds, II" there is a DUKW that comes through the surf to deliver supplies to the rebels. This is that DUKW, the shark teeth have faded a good bit, but they are still there.
